Despite Wu Assassins being just around the corner, details on Netflix's martial arts drama are a little sketchy but we’ve managed to collect the latest bits of Wu Assassins season 1 news.

UPDATE 23/08/2019: check out the 1st oficial trailer for Wu Assassins.

When will Season 1 of Wu Assassin be on Netflix?

Tommy Flanagan confirmed on Instagram that Wu Assassins will be available on Netflix on August 8th, 2019. With the premiere date announced, expect some major goodies to be rolling out in the near future like a trailer and a poster.
As an aside, Flanagan, who plays Alec McCollough "an international crime boss with a mysterious interest in San Francisco’s Chinatown" in the show, let slip the backstory of his character at his 2019 Toronto ComiCon Q&A panel: Alec McCollough is 500 years old and we first meet him in the Highlands of Scotland (sounds interesting!).

A trailer for Wu Assassins is coming soon!

Showrunner John Wirth, who was a producer on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, just dropped off all 10 episodes of the first season of Wu Assassins at the Netflix office and a trailer should be on its way soon. Of course, we don’t know if  Summer will appear in the trailer (it would be awesome though) but it should be a nice preview at the series itself.

Composer Jeehun Hwang, best known for his work in the video game industry, scored the music for Wu Assassins and “his music is mind-bogglingly good” tweeted John Wirth.

Is Summer playing an Asian in Wu Assassins?

Although Summer Glau's name now appears on Wu Assassin’s page at Netxflix website, no details have been revealed about her character - named Miss Jones - yet. And while the cast is filled with Asian or Asian-American actors, the name Miss Jones suggests she plays a non Asian character.
That said, am I the only one who gets Asian vibes when looking at a behind-the-scenes photo of Summer on set of Wu Assassins? After all, Summer played a native Hawaiian character in an episode of Hawaii Five-0.

Will Summer's character be doing martial arts?

The key draw for this series is going to be its fight sequences which will feature the iconic fighting style of Iko Uwais. He’s best known for his work in The Raid and has bought over his team to work on Wu Assassins. You can get in the video below some glimpses of the fight choreography you can expect throughout the series.
And while this is pure speculation on my part, it would be awesome to see Summer kick some butt. If you remember, nobody expected Summer's character in Hawaii Five-0 or in Arrow to show her martial arts skills on screen.

With an incredible cast, spectacular stunts and intriguing plot, Wu Assassins is proving to be one of the most anticipated Netflix projects, and we can’t wait to see it.

Who is excited to see Summer return to our television screens once again? Comment down below your thoughts on what her character, Miss Jones, might be like.
