Watch video clips from Grey's Anatomy episode 16 season 8 "If only you were lonely" with scenes featuring Summer Glau as nurse Emily.
Dr. Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) suspects that Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) is cheating on her with the nurse Emily Kovach (Summer Glau). Summer only had a few short scenes in the episode. We added screencaps from those scenes to our gallery.

I am wiping coffee off of my laptop screen right now. That was very funny!
For the record, I thought Jean DuJardin was brilliant in The Artist. I love that film.
I just read an ABC press release that says Summer is back in another episode (8X17).

Thanks for posting this. I am not sure why but there are some parts of this that did not appear in the Canadian broadcast. Maybe the commercials got in the way. It was great to see her though.
I have a hunch that Shonda Rhimes is a Cameron fan or even a Jameron fan. Cristina played it like a damaged Cameron going after Riley. OK, maybe that is a stretch but Summer did a good job even without speaking and I think that says a lot about her ability as an actor. She did her bit; she portrayed the character; and she helped to advance the story - as others have said, she served her role to advance the plot in helping to illustrate that Cristina was very jealous and could act irrationally.
Disclaimer: I am so far removed from my comfort zone of laser cannons, CGI, endoskeletons, and time travel that it is not funny.

This cameo-like, non-talking guest apperance will do better for her career than her brilliant, plot-changing guest appearance on Alphas.
Why? Because Alphas is a niche show on cable, gathering only 1.4 Million viewers while GA is a hit show on a major network, Thursday’s No. 1 drama in the key 18-49 demographic, gathering more than 8 Millions viewers, having multiples repeats and sold internationally.
I fully support Summer's choice.

There's always the possibility that showrunner Shonda Rhimes is playing with us; like The1Russter said in the forum thread, any other girl could have played Summer's part (without Summer's magnet on screen of course). That alone is weird indeed.
What if Shonda Rhimes did this deliberately to create a feeling of frustration among the fans (and the reviewers also : see the blog post i made); in this case, Summer could very well come in future episodes and expand her role.

Thanks SG wiki for these things. I could not watch this episode, so I'm glad I could see Summer this way. She looks so lovely as a nurse and her smile lights up the photos.
I think she deserves a bigger roles, regardless of whether it's a sci-fi or other genre. But it's good that she appeared in the famous series. As Chris said, this is another entry on her CV.

It doesn't matter Summer had not a big role in this episode; it's another line in her resume that is not scifi and that's the point imo.
May i add that i monitored twitters reactions live while watching the show and they were all positive; at the beginning of the episode, a lot of people were like "wtf, Summer Glau is on tonight's episode and nobody told me" and of course they were later on disappointed she had not more screentime but overall the tv watchers reacted positively, which is a good sign.

My two cent on Summer's cameo is that her management relayed the information that Summer Glau wanted to branch out from scifi and do other roles, this is why Grey's producers offered her that small role.
It's obvious that producers have not enough faith in Summer to hire her in prominent roles outside of scifi; it showed in LOHG, Scent of the Missing and now GA.
Still this guest spot is a small step in Summer's change of career.

Even with those few scenes Summer is the most brightly shining light among everybody else. Her face shows genuine emotions, her beauty outshines all.
Even from these scenes its apparent that she is the biggest talent in that cast and should have sent a message.
I'm refraining from my daily ranting about Summers lets say limited screentime because we knew that way before this episode that she won't have much for unknown reasons.
Though the thing which bugged me righter after the first of many commercials was that how could Summer even show her true potential in such a show?
I mean, what the other actors did with more screentime? There weren't nearly as much emotional and truly dramatic scenes as in Summers previous works. They just stood there, telling some gossip while unrealistically gutting plastic dolls as if they "made surgery".
