Inside the Box is selected in the official selection of Malaga Film Festival (Spanish Academy qualifier) that will take place in the South of Spain from March 21 through the 29. Congratulations to the cast and crew!
The Málaga Film Festival or Málaga Spanish Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Málaga, Spain. The festival was established to promote Spanish cinema and help disseminate information about Spanish films.
The festival has numerous screenings of the most important Spanish film releases for the previous year, including documentaries and short films. It has awards for the best films of the year as well as honorary awards. The main prize is the Biznaga de Oro for best picture. Other awardees, such as "Critic's choice and Best direction receive Biznagas de Plata. In addition the festival hosts panel discussions and round-tables on topics of current interest in Spanish cinema.
For the record, Inside the Box premiered at the International Film Festival of Valladolid on October 2013, winning the "Best Spanish Short Film" award.
The short was released a few months ago, when early donators received a link to watch the movie online. As one of the happy few who saw it, I can confirm that Inside the Box manages to deliver a strong message about HIV criminalization, whilst captivating the audience with unexpected turn of events. It is a great way to showcase Summer Glau's talents well, to reach to a new audience and ultimately will help with her career.
The suspense-drama short-film directed by David Martin Porras starring Wilson Bethel, Summer Glau and Regina King will continue its film festivals tour, and hopefully all fans will be able to see it when it will be available by VOD and DVD at a date to be determined.
Of course we will keep you updated on the dates and locations of the screenings, so stay tuned!
Meanwhile, check out an extended behind the scenes video. It contains new images from the cast and crew and will give you a good idea of all the work the whole team put into this film.
