I'm sure you're not the only one who is wondering what this thread is about.
HaveWeLost's clip gives me the opportunity to rant about the vision that some people have on Summer Glau fans.
When i look at Summer Glau picture from the Lyndsey Forrest photoshoot, i see the talent of the artist who has taken a sexy-without-revealing-much-skin photo; whereas some disturbed minds see adoring fans fantasizing about taking a shower with Summer Glau, thus revealing their own fantasy.
That some fans have a crush on Summer and sometimes express fanboyish comments (coming from girls and boys as well) is not shocking, this is partly what being a fan is about. Though i have not seen blatant disrespectful comments in this forum or they would have been immediately moderated.
And now a bit of history : you may know that the TSCC forums split a few years ago because of the constant bashing of Summer Glau, her fans and the Jameron concept, which was later proven canon by Josh Friedman himself. But anti-Jameron fans and haters of Summer Glau fans have not disappeared and they regularly spread their hate online. Last week on a TSCC forum, a fan has assimilated Cameron to a sexbot, John and Cameron relationship to pedophilia and Summer Glau fans, called Glaubots, to wanking boys, not to mention scenes of Summer Glau in her underwear called "Soft porn" !!????
These false ideas are regularly spread by blogger who have obviously not understood what TSCC was about; when THEY see a sexbot, we fans see a cyborg becoming sentient and learning to disobey her chore programming, having interactions that will define the future savior of the world at the same time .
The members of the Summer Glau Wiki have a history of denouncing these dreadful practices, even if i'm the first one to invite people to vote for Summer Glau in those, simplistic but helpful regarding Summer Glau's exposure, "Most sexy scifi character" polls. In the same spirit, this is why we have published a list of Summer Glau impersonator on Twitter.
While being an anti-Jameron is all in all simply having an opinion different from the majority of the fans, some obsessed fan have developed a hate for all things related to Summer Glau and her fans; their insanity is such that they can say they are Summer Glau number one fan and that she's is a "selfish bitch" in the same paragraph. A few years ago TSCC fans have fantasized about Summer Glau private relationship with her tatooed boyfriend and forced him to publish a letter online; this is why Summer Glau will NEVER be on Twitter, not because of some fanarts or fanboyish comments, but because of these stalkers.
Some people are driven by hate while some others are driven by passion; i have chosen my side and all the members of the Summer Glau Wiki have chosen the same path.
You will probably cross path with these crazy people sooner or later but i hope this rant will help you to realise that these people are trolling and that their message of hate should not detract us from our goal which is to spread the word on Summer's incredible talent as an actress and good moral values as a person. I don't think Chrisdvanne was trying to be critical. I thought he was just pointing out there are threads like the one you started that are just a fun fanboyish (and girlish) theme and there are the ones that are hurtful. Yours was not hurful othewise it would have been moderated. He was trying to stop any negative comments coming in preemtively.
So I made a funny video about it. Took me less than an hour. I didn't think anything of it.
My rant was not critical about your work specifically and i missed the reference to the video you mentioned.
As RNBM mentioned it, i took your video as an excuse to rant about despicable practices that i see online. Your own video made me laugh and this is why i responded with another funny video in my first comment.
Don't worry HaveWeLost, i'm not the resentful type.
I must say i didn't know exactly what your point was by posting that video, simply because i lacked context on the video and on you; this is the only thing i could blame you for. Let me tell you the story of one of the very few times we had to moderate someone. A fresh new member posted a thread inviting fans to vote for Summer Glau on an online poll and wrote the following sentence "Get your vote on, Niggah!". I'm sure this person meant no harm by using this word but it could be seen as offensive by a lot of people and the members of the Wiki decided collectively to remove that last word.
It would have been better if you gave us in the first posts a few informations on you and on the circumstances of the making of the video, like you did in a later message. New members are always welcome in the Summer Glau Wiki but as in every forum, a few words to introduce yourself are always very appreciated and would have prevent this type of situation.
I'm very proud that both RNBM and Jason_Connor expressed an opinion very similar to mine; the spirit is to educate and inform people on a code of conduct instead of calling people names first.
On a personal level, i would appreciate that you edit the message #6 and remove the last two sentences. You can also find me on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr or Youtube
