Thanks, Fermi. I probably should've registered sooner since I come here all the time. haha I like to see what sort of new gifs and that you make. We're actually friends on Facebook. I'm the one with the Little River as his profile pic. cool

@Chief

Well, I do hope I was wrong.

Thanks for posting the link and the analysis of the image. Your explanation certainly makes sense and explains why nobody made any fuss.

I appreciate your defending Summer's health.

Do note that I never said she is ill or unhealthy. I never mentioned the word anorexic. You inferred that and said that I insinuated it. But I would never say such a thing. It is yours.

I suggest you should be more circumspect before you go accusing other people of things they have not done.

Advice I'm sure you could heed, as well...

But since this is the Summer appreciation thread, I thought I'd post one of my favourite screencaps from the pilot. It's when she says, "The Cape, fine." She looks so sweet. It's actually my favourite scene from the premiere. I thought she did quite well with her emotions and expresions. biggrin

I thought she did quite well with her emotions and expresions.

You could have added, "considering the lame lines the writers gave her".

Remember when NBC released the promo trailer containing " So this is real? You're fighting back" ; a lot of people, including me, thought Summer's acting was not very good.

@ Chief : since you posted, i have watched the scene again and Summer did really a good job; as always, a short line extracted from a whole dramatic scene is not enough to capture the range of emotions.

The line "You could be a symbol" should be read as coming from a young girl "who is on her own since she is twelve" (i quote Summer) and desesperatly need someone on her side; as a friend or as a love interest in the future is yet to be seen.
But just after that almost childish emotion, in her following line, we see a much stonger and determined girl who wants to hit Peter Fleming.

Summer Glau was able to deliver that scene with a great range of emotions but extracting just one line was a mistake; unfortunately, this was the first impression people had on Orwell.

I suspect watching Orwell is going to be a different experience for a lot of people because they're used to seeing Summer as River Tam or Cameron. I loved the "You could be a symbol" line because of that sort of childish hope she expressed. And her expression when she asks, "Why the get up?" That was just adoable. She was flawless in that scene.

The writers haven't given her much, and that's something that frustrates me beyond measure. I don't want to wait until halfway through the season to start learning about Orwell.

Indeed.

Just remember, you cannot control what other people post. You may not like it, but you cannot stop it.

The only real way would be to delete posts and ban members, and banning is a poor solution if they can just come back under another screen name. We have seen the mixed results of such heavy-handedness on the Red Wiki.

Sorry for the OT.

NBC marketing dpmt has something in mind; dozens of similar articles pop-up all over the net for a reason.
After reading the reviews for the show, they don't want to communicate on the cape itself and the circus; they prefer to focus on the character development and their greatest asset in this departement is Orwell.
