There isn't a mole or something on that part of her face normally so I assume thats the scar she is talking about. And its the only thing which is out of place on her face and she said the scar is quite visible.

Summer Glau is so awesome, it isn't even funny!

I thought that was great because she is supposed to be human.

I don't buy the fact that Summer or David Nutter or Josh Friedman says they left that scar visible on Summer's face. I rather think they tried to hide it with make up but it was still visible. This scar adds nothing to the fact she was human, all the more that nobody paid attention to it when the pilot aired.

The fact that Cameron was portrayed in such a human way on the pilot and that Cameron was completely different in the next episode is a plot hole for me and for a lot of TSCC fans; Summer and Friedman tried clumsily to justified it by the fact Summer had to act as a normal girl before finding John and that she was her real self once she find him; but i don't believe it. I believe that the pilot, as every pilot, was filmed long before the serie was picked up by Fox and changes were made on the script (see unaired pilot to be convinced) and they also decided to change Cameron's behaviour toward humans. Just like Dr Rosen in Alphas had a beard in the pilot but loosed it in the second episode.

I preferred Cameron as more like a real girl. I thought Summer was very cute in that role. I would have liked it if they showed John and Cameron having a more normal boy-girl relationship instead of Cameron acting stiff and robot-like and John being a little hostile toward her.

I think they made that change because someone at Fox wanted to keep John and Cameron apart and told Friedman. (I think that was a mistake.)

However, I think having to act more robot-like helped Summer show her acting talent in her communicating thoughts and emotions without having to say them. Like Summer could say so much just by tilting Cameron's head so slightly or by a slightly longer pause or just by staring at someone. She can be so subtle, in contrast to her having been so emotional as River.

Would it have been the TSCC we watch and loved, i don't think so.

Maybe, but hard to be sure sure.

Definitively.
I still see people comenting about Cameron's "blank face" : i wonder if they've seen more than half an episode of TSCC before saying such nonsense.

It would have been a terrible mistake if they done that. I agree that there is no cuter thing than Summer when she plays a more normal girl, somebody who is closer to her own shy and adorable personality( Bennett around Topher in Dollhouse is a good example) but look around a bit and see that the human-like, adorable robot girls are a huge cliché in sci-fi.

And its another cliché that these "robot" girls are inevitably fall in love with the main hero of the show or another human or occasionally a male robot. In these cases the robots have perfectly human characteristics, personality, emotions. The problem is that the audience inevitably threats them as human characters but the show of course tries to relentlessly convince you that they are robots usually with the help of various special effect designer( its forced and doesn't work most of the time). Watch the sci-fi show Andromeda for example and you will see.

I have a feeling that writing a more "realistic" and robot-like character and make her still lovable is a huge chalange. But playing it is possibly even more difficult than that and I think everybody chooses the easier way because its hard to find a good candidate. Now enters Summer Glau and the writers of TSCC and throwing their talents together creating Cameron, who is what I'd say the most perfect robot-character in sci-fi history to date. I don't want to reproduce again all her qualities( we've discussed it countless times in other threads too) but her balanced nature between human and robot personality doesn't make her a human with some robotic characteristics but a robot with human characteristic e.g a sentient machine( who is on the top of that a deceptive infiltrator and nigh-indestructible killing machine).

After that point all Asimov like question is actual in TSCC but it doesn't come through lengthly character monologues but rather in live situations and conflicts, more subtly, realistically(I'm not entirely sure what was intended of all this but it came through brilliantly). As a bonus you can't really escape these questions in TSCC. When somebody brings up the serious questions about an AI the current AI is usually an obscure looking male- like thing like Data in TNG or better yet, a server-like computer with keyboard and such.

You don't inevitably care for it and their situation or if they are sentient, have rights or not. But when it appears as an adorable teenager-girl with Summers looks? Thats why I view Cameron and TSCC as an ultimate material about the whole AI question. And it wouldn't exist if its not for the incredibly talented Summer Glau and Friedman who was willing to take the risk of failure in case things don't work out.

Side note: The reason I resent Weavers character is that it shadowed Camerons development by being a too big leap herself. I understand they wanted to make Manson a big star and I'm grateful that she singed for S&D but she ruined the show a bit(and possibly put away viewers for the same reasons I mentioned)

That picture was taken during Comic Con 2011, just before the interview with Kevin Pereira at G4tv booth.

Summer walks through the crowded alleys of Comic con with self-confidence and a bright smile on her face whereas she shows sometimes shyness.

Seing Sumer so confident is maybe related to the fact Summer is a veteran at Comic Con, as Kevin Pereira said at the begining of the interview. (You can see the interview directly on the Summer Glau Wiki by clicking the Youtube button on the left of the News page).

It looks like she slowly starts to adapt to the too much attention and manage the stress better. I noticed this tendency a bit in recent interviews too. Hard to notice but its there I think.

The wide smile is a bit new, maybe in familiar atmosphere she started to enjoy the spotlight more?

I think one other thing may improve on her confident appearance. A more confident looking outfit.

Like this from the Attack of the show interview:

Attack of the show - January 24, 2011

A bit Cameron style but it worked for Cameron very well.

Yes, Summer looked pretty relaxed and self confident in this pic. She also looked good in the pic below, which was recently posted on the Summer Glau Appreciation pages on both the Red and Blue Wikis.

@Blazius

I felt she was more relaxed recently indeed, even when she was asked embarrassing questions. But there is still a long way before we see her completely at ease during interviews. Even someone who is not an expert in body language knows that the way Summer is placing her fingers in the picture from 'Attack of the Show' conveys anxiety.

Also i think you meant :

@termi-ninja-tor

Yeah she felt relaxed when entering the convention, as we can see on the whole set of pics at : http://photos.summer-glau.com....y_media

Also you should edit your post because your picture don't show; you should use the embed code provided in the gallery :

She looks very cute in both pictures and i particularly like her his haughty look; yet i don't understand why she's grabs her dress with her fingers (i know i look too much in details but they're often revealing).

Yes, the changing is only marginally notable but I say at least its there.

With the Attack of the show example I just meant her outfit to be more confident of course. She was anything but relaxed during that interview and the showrunner guy still had to do the majority of the talking.

I decided to write Cameron because Summer herself doesn't like this kind of outfit( but Cam does and it indeed helped the character look more confident and stronger so it worked for her).
You don't see Summer frequently in these when she is herself.

I have no idea why because she is gorgeous in them and also helps counterbalancing her shyness a little. I'm thinking maybe because its not compatible with her favorite boots or something like that(which she doesn't wear here either so I don't know wacko )

Here's another pic that was admired on the Blue Wiki in modified form. It is from Desert Cantos, the first time she is at the pond with the dead cow.

It's a nice pic. I love her expression, as if she is pondering a disturbing puzzle. The sun on her hair picks out a halo of highlights. And her posture and attire emphasize her long graceful neck.

Although her face is somewhat in shadow, I have seen modified versions that lighten it up attractively. (Thanks to David for posting one version in the Photos sections of the Red and Blue. And kaotic has liked another version enough to use it as his current avatar on Blue.)

Summer Glau

PS Thanks to Michelangelo for giving me some guidance on how to post pics from the gallery.

Nice picture indeed! I love her expression too! Another example how strong and serious she can look if necessary. Very, very rare in her category.

I can't really name an actress at her age and especially with her looks who can be so powerful onscreen. With Summer on this picture even if she is showing her beautiful neck it only adds to her power more. Not many actress can do this I think( BTW notice how the leather jacket adds to the strengh factor too).
