Everyone is invited to post a picture and say what it evoques for him; then other members can give their own opinion. This thread doesn't requires grey matter, you can make a detailed comment or a short one, post an emoticone, fanboys comments are welcome, just say what's on your mind.

You have a large choice of pictures in the gallery, feel free to use them (don't forget to precise where it comes from because not everyone is supposed to know everything about Summer Glau).

Summer Glau as Cameron Phillips in TSCC season finale 'Born to Run'

Summer Glau

There is so much to say about that picture; first it reminds me of the classic scene in Terminator (1984) where Arnold killed everyone at the police station.

The enigmatic words pronounced by the priest "She's coming" and then the wailing of the prisons's sirens were unforgettable. It was a visual shock when i saw that scene in TSCC because it was filmed so that the audience would be drown in it and could not hold its breath.
I even created a graphic from that sequence for the Summer Glau wiki 2012 Calendar and i titled the top graphic 'She's coming' :

I like the action figure. Her face is hard to get right. The best action figure pic is the one Fermi used for his avatar for a while:

I wish the toy industry would make some good action figures of TSCC characters including Cameron, but I guess it's too late for that to happen (sigh).

I put my favorite Summer pics on my profile page on the Red Wiki. (so far I'm up to 28 in my collection plus 6 in my discussion)

Right! This is also why i don't like action figures : either the face is ugly, or the face is nice but does'nt look like Summer.

Back to the prison scene : it shows clearly Summer Glau's performance as Cameron : even without speaking, Summer indicates the audience that her wounds have affected Cameron's capacity, when she tilts her head on the side for example.

Captain Mal discovers River Tam in a box - Firefly episode 1

Summer Glau

As you know i'm not a specialist of Firefly, so i count on you to say what this screencap evokes for you.

This pic made me feel uncomfortable, to see Summer so exposed and vulnerable. Of course, I understand that she must not have ever been truly naked during the filming, but her character, River, was supposed to be naked in the box. I was glad that Simon covered her up promptly.

This scene made me dislike Mal. He was wrong to jump to the conclusion that Simon was a spy. He was wrong to open the box. It could have caused injury to River.

In hindsight, there is an obvious parallel to TSCC. In both cases, the boxes should not have been opened, but they were opened by crew members who feared they had an enemy in their midst and the boxes belonged to those possible enemies. In both cases, there was a powerful female in the box. In TSCC, the LMT showed its power immediately, while in Firefly, River showed her power much later.

This is pretty much true to the characters during the season. River was very vulnerable and required Simon to support her and care for her constantly. It was also very hard to see Summer crying and in such pain even through I knew she is just playing. I just wanted to hug her myself and comfort her just to stop her crying. cry

But that is the point really. Her scenes always carry a very strong emotional discharge and when its a sad scene then she can make you very sad. That makes her such a great actress!

As for images. I have tons of favorite Summer images but I chose two to post here.

This is from the Kate Romero photoshoot. This is one of the most beautiful Summer images I think. Her vibrant, shining, full of life smile literally makes my day happier whenever I see it. The background and her flowery clothes and the overall colorful nature of the picture complement the picture of our beautiful goddess perfectly too.

The second one is quite the opposite

Its Summer in The 4400 as Tess after she becomes sick again and on one night she escapes from Kevin. This scene and therefore the picture has a strange appeal to me especially because of the visuals. It plays a strong contrast with the first picture where Summer smiles and its very bright and colorful while this picture is dark, Summer has a worrying expression and she isn't wearing makeup.

The reason I like it too is that this picture has a contrast with itself too. Its night, its dark, its depressing however Summers white skin and the gentle shapes of her face emerge from the shadows making the whole picture strangely pleasant and worrying at the same time.

In literature there are some instances where night itself is identified with a woman whose dark hair is the shroud of the night and has a pleasant face(the night itself is pleasant there, usually summer night) and when I saw this scene that was the first thing that came to my mind.

Summer Glau is so awesome, it isn't even funny!

I'm sure a lot of fans felt the same way as you termi-ninja-tor when discovering that scene. It must have been hard for Summer also : isn't it after that scene she's supposed to have said to Joss Whedon "You'll see God before you'll see me naked again" ?

Summer Glau described in a genuine and funny way how she felt during that particular scene at 2011 Calgary Expo Panel; i've isolated that part just for you :

Additional informations :
In the infographic '18 Things you didn’t know about Firefly', we learn that there is a lot of similarities between Firefly and an anime serie called 'Outlaw Star, and notably that scene :

Just like termi-ninja-tor, i could not help thinking to that scene in TSCC s02ep18 'Today is the Day'; iirc, fans in tscc boards were expecting to find "Cameron in a box" and everyone was speculating about the size of the box, if Cameron was in pieces or not...

@Blazius : thanks for submitting others pictures, i will answer you shortly once viewers have aknowledge my post.

Here's an image you have probably seen here before.

Summer as aerial silks dancer

It is an outtake from The Cape, when Orwell was enjoying herself on the aerial silks with Vince quietly watching and admiring her acrobatics from the side. (Too bad almost all of her performance was edited out in the final version of the episode.)

This is one of my favorite pics (I have it on my profile page over on the Red Wiki). It gives me a real sense of her being in motion, graceful, enjoying the movements of her body unhindered by any contact with the ground. Her eyes are closed and she is thinking . . . ?

How does this pic speak to you?

I cxompletely agree! I find Summer incredibly sexy in this picture, and at least for me she doesn't have to show much skin or to pose in a provocative way to be sexy. No one can deny that actresses from the Golden Age of Hollywood were sexy, though they didn't show much skin either (because of the Hays code in Hollywood).

I'd like to put that image in pespective before commenting it; describing the context is often 50% of the explanation.

This image of Orwell (and all the others from the same scene) is probably the most well-known, as long as the one of Orwell standing aside a Mercedes SLS AMG; these pictures were largely used to promote The Cape.

But if the Mercedes pic was only a promo pic, the aerial silk one has a lot of meaning, at least in the original version of the scene; as you said, Vince disappeared from that scene at the cutting table (here is another pic of that scene with Vincent looking at Orwell)
Summer Glau aerial silk in The Cape

Without the rushes, we can't say how Vincent feels while waching Orwell; does he looks at her like an artist performing an act (not likely imo) or is he confused by the beauty of the scene?

Instead Thomas Wheeler choosed to use that aerial silk scene as a way to reveal that Orwell is Fleming's daughter; personally, i like this final scene where Fleming looks wistfully at the ballerina in the music box and the bluring between the ballerina and Orwell (not to mention the reference to Summer Glau's ballet years).
Summer Glau ballerina box The Cape

Back to the image itself : i like the beauty and the poetry of that image. Summer is very graceful and Orwell seems to enjoy that moment of peace whereas her character is quite troubled.

I think it was better that they cut out Vince and made the scene for the revelation instead. The scene has a much deeper meaning this way. If they left Vince there the scene would deteriorate into a "Vince thinks Orwell has a fine ass, should he choose to cheat on his wife or he is too good for that?" scene. But in the final cut its about how a father misses his daughter, their time together, how he used to take her into aerial silk classes(I presume thats what the scene implied) and how he lost her. Summers beauty again turned into something pure and artistic this way and I like it better than the alternatives. Actually this is my favorite scene i the Cape and thats why Kozmo was my favorite episode.

If I see the picture out of context then my first thought is that I've never seen a more beautiful body than hers. The sentence with Summer and Michelangelo comes to my mind here.

My second is that I hope it wasn't too hard or exhausting to do that performance considering how much was cut from it. Her talents and strenght shouldn't be wasted. sad

Thats right! Other women in Hollywood get naked and erotic to show their physical beauty. Summer only needs one gentle smile and thats it, she made my entire day happier.

Trivia
Summer injured herself by staying to close to shooting range while shooting-practicing for
The Sarah Connor Chronicles, earning herself a small scar on her face that is showing on the serie.

I wonder if the spot Summer hads under her right eye in this picture, is the burn mark she received doing shooting practice??

And Here

It was one of the first things I read about Summer, but I was never able to see where she had the burn mark. Until now maybe.

Thats a window bird.

location of the scar?

I can see a very small brown mark under the right eye.

Here is the interview she does not reveal the exact location of scar

Quote
IF : Did you have any accidents filming the action in the pilot ?

GLAU : Actually before, I was in one. I have a scar on my face from when I was shooting. I was at a shooting range and a shell flew back and burned my face, so [director] David Nutter let it show all through the pilot, and if you watch you can see it all through the episode. I thought that was great because she is supposed to be human.
