# 1336. I've heard this word: sophomore mentioned many times in US programs featuring college campuses, so I looked it up.
Here is the meaning.  I believe the 3rd one applies to the above post.
  • n.
    A second-year student in a U.S. college.
  • n.
    A tenth-grade student in a U.S. high school.
  • n.
A person in the second year of carrying out an endeavor.
(robbo. I see you got your article from imdb).

'Blindspot' Gets Order For 9 More Scripts

Heading into Week 2 of the fall season, the top new series of Premiere Week, NBC drama Blindspot, has received an order for additional scripts. While most such orders are for three to five scripts, the Blindspot pickup is for nine, matching the full episodic back order a fall freshman show can receive.

With a big DVR lift, Blindspot drew a 4.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 15.2 million total viewers.

This is the first fall series to get a script order this season and an example of a breakout hit from an independent studio (Warner Bros. TV). All the other strong premiere Week freshman performers came from sister studios: ABC/ABC Studios' The Muppets, CBS/CBS Studios' Limitless, Fox/20th TV'S Rosewood (and Scream Queens, when streaming data is factored in).

Chasing Life Canceled by ABC Family After Two Seasons

There's no life left in this cancer drama.

Despite attempts to give Chasing Life a chance to breathe, even moving up the second season premiere date by one month, the ratings for the finale dipped to a series low.

A lot happened during Chasing Life Season 2, including the marriage of the lead character, April, and the subsequent death of her husband, Leo. April and Brenna discovered they had a half sister in Natalie a formed a relationship of sorts, but nothing was strong enough to pull in viewers as dedicated as those watching during Chasing Life Season 1.

In the second season (now series) finale, April was given more bad news by her doctors, and while vacationing in Italy, she was considering staying on there to live the remainder of her life.

Arrivederci, Chasing Life.

#1339 I watched a few episodes and then realised the premise and special effects were ridiculous. I gave up on it.

iZombie Taps Eddie Jemison As New Villain

Eddie Jemison will recur as a new villain in the second season of iZombie.

The Ocean's Eleven trilogy star, who worked with iZombie EP Rob Thomas on the Veronica Mars movie, will play Mr. Boss, Seattle's very own crime lord.

"We're really playing him as the man who runs Seattle, " says Thomas, noting that Mr. Boss is very unique from the other main villains in season 2. "It's a very different flavor from Blaine and Vaughn Du Clark. With David Anders and Steven Weber, we've got such big scenery-chewing, delightfully big bad guys. With Mr. Boss, we wanted to play the mild-mannered, broodily efficient kind of guy."

Jemison, whose TV credits also include Hung and Criminal Minds, will first appear in an episode slated for mid-November.

iZombie returns Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.

'Powers' Adds Tricia Helfer To Season 2 Cast

Battlestar Galactica alum Tricia Helfer has joined the Season 2 cast of Playstation and Sony Pictures TV's Powers in a recurring role. She will play FBI Special Agent Lange, who, like the comic book character, shares a history and palpable sexual tension with Detective Walker (Sharlto Copley). Lange walks a fine line between the Powers world and the government, and can be both ally and enemy when it suits her agenda. Production began on Season 2 last week in Atlanta for premiere on Playstation Network in 2016.

Based on the graphic novel series, Powers follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as "Powers." The new season will delve into the storyline made famous by the first comic "Who Killed Retro Girl?" as the Powers Division investigates the shocking murder of the world famous superhero (Michelle Forbes) and the mysteries that her death uncovers.

Helfer, is best known for her role as the humanoid Cylon 'Number Six' in the Battlestar Galactica TV series. She also played the lead on Syfy's original miniseries Ascension and ABC's Killer Woman.

A&E Acquires Crime Drama 'The Frankenstein Chronicles,' Starring Sean Bean

Cannes - U.S. network A&E has acquired the period mystery crime drama mini-series "The Frankenstein Chronicles," which stars "Game of Thrones" actor Sean Bean.

The six-episode show has been created by director and writer Benjamin Ross ("The Young Poisoner's Handbook") and writer Barry Langford ("Torte Bluma"). Endemol Shine Intl. Is handling global sales.

The show is a re-imagining of the Frankenstein story set in 19th-century London. After a successful operation by the Thames River Police to nab a gang of opium smugglers, a child's corpse is discovered. Inspector John Marlott (Bean) is horrified to discover that it's not actually a child, but a grotesque assembly of human body parts. We follow Marlott on the hunt for the killer behind this abomination, taking him into the dark corners of Georgian London, an underworld of prostitution, drug smuggling, bodysnatching, murder for profit and other vices.

Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive VP of programming for A&E, said: "The Frankenstein Chronicles" uniquely merges classic elements from both the crime and horror genres, which pairs perfectly with A&E's growing scripted slate."

CBS Cancels Halle Berry's "Extant" Series

CBS has canceled its summer drama event series "Extant" after two seasons.

The series, which wrapped its second season this September, revolved around astronaut Molly Woods (Halle Berry) who is inexplicably pregnant when she returns home to her family after thirteen months on a solo mission in outer space.

Though popular in its first season, the series underwent a big change in its second season, dropping many of its subplots and taking out more than half its key cast. Unsurprisingly its popularity declined, ratings dropping to a 1.1 and 6.35 million viewers an episode. Critical reviews for both seasons were not good.

CBS does plan to remain in business with Berry though and has announced it is developing a legal drama with the star entitled "Legalese". Steven Lichtman ("The Good Wife") will pen the story of a biracial lawyer from Chicago who follows a case to New Orleans where she teams with a white attorney while working in a very particular justice system.

It's Official: Jenna Coleman Is Leaving Doctor Who

At least they didn't keep fans guessing this time. On Friday, the BBC officially confirmed earlier reports that Jenna Coleman would be leaving Doctor Who in Season 9. During a radio interview with BBC1, Coleman also announced she'd already filmed her final scenes on the long-running sci-fi series, noting that Clara Oswald's departure from the TARDIS has been in the works for more than a year.

"Steven [Moffat] and I sat down a long time ago... and tried to work out the best place to do it, and the best place in which to tell a really good story," the actress said. "Hopefully that's what we've done."

The news that plans for Coleman's departure started last year should hardly be surprising to diehard Whovians. Earlier this year showrunner Steven Moffat confirmed after months of speculation that twice there were plans for Clara to be written out of the series—after the Season 8 finale "Death in Heaven" and again after last year's Christmas special—but the actress changed her mind both times.

#1346 Wow Jenna looks absolutely amazing, I remember the Lancashire lass when she made her first screen appearance in the British soap opera Emmerdale as Jasmine Thomas.

For her portrayal of Jasmine, she received a nomination for best newcomer at the 2006 British Soap Awards and numerous other nominations over the period of time she spent in Emmerdale.

Believe it or not she also had a lesbian fling story-line with one of the other cast members called Debbie (Charley Webb). She certainly has done well for herself Jenna has.

The CW's Beauty And The Beast To End Its Run After Season 4

A tale as old as time - is clocking out.

The CW has announced that Beauty and the Beast will end its run after Season 4, which is currently wrapping production and will air at midseason/summer 2016 (exact date TBA).

Starring Smallville alum Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan in the title roles, the supernatural-tinged take on the romantic fairy tale averaged 1.6 million viewers and a 0.6 demo rating during its freshman run (which had a buzzy Vampire Diaries for a lead-in), but during Season 3 (where it self-started summertime Thursdays) it mustard just 880K and a 0.2.

Quantico Lands Full-Season Order

Alex Parrish just bought herself a little more time to find Quantico's true terrorist: The ABC drama has earned itself a full-season pickup, the network announced Tuesday.

The order for six additional episode will bring the full count to 19, an ABC rep says that there's a possibility that that order will expand.

The series' premiere drew 7.1 million total viewers and a 1.9 demo rating, improving greatly on previous timeslot-holder Revenge's numbers. In Week 2, it was down only 3 percent in audience and matched the premiere's demo number, and was the night's highest-rated drama.

This past Sunday's episode nabbed 5.7 million viewers and a 1.6 rating, doubling its lead in from Blood & Oil.

The Priyanka Chopra-fronted thriller, which follows FBI agent Alex as she tries to figure out who's framing her for a massive terror attack, airs Sundays at 10/9c. It is the second freshman series this season to receive a full order, following NBC's Blindspot.
