"Ash vs Evil Dead" Lucy Lawless Reunites With Bruce Campbell On Starz

"Spartacus" alum Lucy Lawless is returning to Starz for a role on "Ash vs Evil Dead," the "Evil Dead" spinoff series that stars her "Xena: Warrior Princess" co-star Bruce Campbell.

Lawless will play Ruby, a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks. The only problem: She believes that Ash (Campbell) is the cause of it all. Lawless' casting also reunites her with executive producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, with whom she worked on "Xena" and "Spartacus," as well as their feature films including Raimi's "Spider-Man" and Tapert's "Boogeyman."

Lawless joins previously announced cast members Ray Santiago (Pablo Simon Bolivar), Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly Maxwell) and Jill Marie Jones (Amanda Fisher).

The series will consist of 10 half-hour episodes. Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging Lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who as spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons --- personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its "Evil" grip.

Lawless can next be seen in a recurring role on season two of WGN America's "Salem."

"Walking Dead" Spin-Off Gets Two Seasons

AMC must be very happy with how the pilot turned out as the network is moving forward with its "The Walking Dead" spin-off series.

Like its flagship, the first season will consist of six hourlong episodes. But AMC have gone even further, preemptively renewing the drama for a second season as well, though the episode count for it has yet to be announced.

The series, which still has yet to score an official title, is said to be a prequel that takes place in Los Angeles at the onset of the zombie outbreak. Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey lead the cast.

The first season will premiere on AMC in the late summer, likely airing all of its episodes before the sixth season debuts in October. The spin-off's second season will debut in 2016.

Six More To Appear In "Daredevil"

Six further supporting cast members in Marvel and Netflix's "Daredevil" TV series have been revealed just a few weeks ahead of the show's debut on the streaming service on April 10th. The newcomers include:

Rob Morgan as Turk Barrett, a small time and not too bright crook who often crosses paths with Daredevil (Charlie Cox).

Matt Gerald as Melvin Potter, a machinist caught in a tricky situation. In the comics, he becomes the super villain Gladiator.

Peter Shinkoda as Nobu, a Japanese businessman who is an ally of the Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) but has his own agenda.

Wai Ching Ho as Madame Gao, a powerful woman running her own trade.

And finally Nikolai Nikolaeff and Gideon Emery as two Russian brothers named Vladimir and Anatoly who have come to America to forge new lives.

I am probably going to watch solely because it's Marvel and the guy behind Spartacus is show running. Just after see how the show unfolds otherwise it will be getting struck of me list.

Firefly stars Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk need your help to get them back into a spaceship, so they’ve launched a campaign on Indiegogo in order to raise money for a new comedy web series titled 'Con Man', about actors from a sci-fi show which was cancelled too soon.

They already have their Firefly cast members Sean Maher and Gina Torres along for the ride as well as 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn, Seth Green, Felicia Day and Amy Acker, with more guest stars being announced throughout the campaign. Therefore, it is legitimate to ask the question: in which episode will Summer Glau appear?

12 Monkeys: Renewed For Season 2!!

Syfy's sleeper hit 12 Monkeys will be returning for a second season.

Despite less than stellar ratings, the critically acclaimed and fan praised time travel series, adapted from the Terri Gilliam movie, has caught the eye of the network in the best way possible.

Executive Producers Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, who also adapted 12 Monkeys for television, will take over as showrunners for 12 Monkeys Season 2 from Natalie Chaidez, who is developing her own series for Syfy.

"We are absolutely committed to 12 Monkeys, and have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding critical and audience praise the series has earned," said Syfy president Dave Howe.
It's had a great first season creatively, and is building a dedicated audience."

The series stars Aaron Stamford, Amanda Schull and Kirk Acevedo.

The show really has exceeded many expectations, I'm glad it was renewed.

Matt (@Phantomwriter05) send us a Supergirl casting news that will please every Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles fan: Mackenzie Brooke Smith, who played Savannah Weaver in TSCC, will be in CBS's Supergirl pilot.

It seems Mackenzie will play a student Kara goes to high school with.

Mackenzie Brooke Smith cast in CBS's Supergirl pilot

Watch more headshots of Mackenzie Brooke Smith in Message # 307.

However I'm a little confused. Melissa Benoist, who plays Kara in the Supergirl pilot, is 26 in real life and plays a 16 year old Kara. That's fine for me, Summer Glau was also 26 when she played convincingly a 16 year old Cameron in TSCC after all. But then why hire a real 15 year old girl to play a friend of Kara? I'm afraid the age difference might show on screen. Similarly, Laura Benanti who's portraying Alura Zor-El in the series is only 9 years older than her TV daughter Melissa Benoist.
We'll see...

"Outlander" Set To Go Much Darker

Last night's PaleyFest panel for the Starz series "Outlander" revealed a couple of new details regarding the remaining eight episodes of the first season and what's to come in the second.

Talking about the new batch of eight episodes, which commence April 4th, show runner Ronald D. Moore confirms that the show will grow increasingly dark: "It does go to some harrowing places. If you haven't read the book, you'll be surprised by the direction it takes." He adds that the season finale will provide: "a satisfying ending. I think it's an ending worthy of the story and takes you places you weren't expecting to go."

He also says the plan is to stick as close as possible to the books going forward with the second book in the series, "Dragonflies In Amber," to be used as the basis for the second season. However, he admits a minor change might commit a character to head in a new direction.

It has also been confirmed that Tobias Menzies' 20th century character of Frank will NOT reappear in the remainder of the new season but will be a part of the second season. His 18th century Jack Randall character though will be very much be a key force in forthcoming episodes.

More Flashes To Appear On "Flash"

It seems Grant Gustin's Barry Allen may not be the only The Flash that could be a part of The CW's "The Flash" next season.

Appearing at a PaleyFest panel on Saturday, executive producer Greg Berlanti says they hope to introduce other versions of the character - namely Wally West and/or Bart Allen - into the show during the second season:

"That's our hope. We've already been picked up for a second year. If we were going to do something like that, we'd do it next year."

The new episodes for the remainder of the first season will also deal with time travel, and executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says the plan is to explore the impact of that:

"We're definitely talking about the ramifications of time travel. There are episodes coming up where there is concern of certain events being changed in the past [that]would effect who people are and their relationships with each other. If the past changes, does the present change as well?''

A sizzle reel shown during the panel showed off scenes of Mark Hamill's Trickster, psychic ape Gorilla Grodd, more Reverse-Flash, and apparently scenes of Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) showing a potentially villainous side.

'Sleepy Hollow' Renewed For Third Season With Clifton Campbell As Showrunner

Fox has given an early renewal to Sleepy Hollow, with The Glades creator Clifton Campbell on board as executive producer and new showrunner. The 18-episode third-season pickup of the headless horseman drama had been hinging on finding a new showrunner to succeed Mark Goffman, who exited after two seasons.

A surprise breakout last season, Sleepy Hollow had struggled a bit in Season 2, both creatively and ratings-wise. "We want to get back to something that feels a little bit more episodic in nature, it has become overly serialized," Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden acknowledged at TCA in January. "We are trying to return the fun to it a little bit."

With due respect to Sleepy Hollow I would imagine that they would go back to the actual format of Season 1. Then again if the ratings slip this time around I think it could be curtains for the show.

Ruth Negga Lands Female Lead In AMC Pilot 'Preacher'

Exclusive: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Ruth Negga has been cast as the female lead in Preacher, AMC's drama pilot based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's cult 1990s comic. The project, from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, is about Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Negga) - Jesse's former and only true love - and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the three embark on a journey to literally find God. Tulip is described as a volatile, action-packed, sexified force of nature, a capable, unrepentant criminal with a love of fashion and ability to construct helicopter-downing bazookas out of coffee cans and corn shine who's not afraid to steal, kill or corn cob-stab her way out of a bad situation.

Negga is the first actor cast in Preacher, from Sony TV and AMC Studios. Rogen and Goldberg developed the project for television and will direct the pilot, written by Sam Catlin who serves as showrunner.

Rogen, Goldberg and Catlin executive produce with James Weaver, Neal Moritz, Vivian Cannon and Ori Marmur as well as Ken Levin and Jason Netter. Ennis and Dillon co-executive produce.

Negga has comic book credentials with her recurring role as Raina on ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In features, she shot the titular role of the Irish drama Iona, directed by Scott Graham. Negga, repped by ICM Partners and Principal Entertainment LA, was recently seen in the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side and next plays Lady Taria in another high-profile genre project, Warcraft.

This marks the second consecutive comic-book based drama project, in which Sony has cast a minority actress as the female lead, drawn as Caucasian in the comics. Preacher joins the studio's Playstation series Powers co-starring Susan Heyward.

CBS's Supergirl Series Picks Up Former Terminator To Play A Classic DC Baddie

Former Terminator Owain Yeoman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Mentalist, Extant) has been cast in the role of DC Comics supervillain Vartox in CBS' Supergirl, CBR has confirmed. He will appear in a guest-star capacity in the pilot, which will also feature the Lumberjack (who is, as of yet, still uncast) and Star Trek and Iron Man actor Faran Tahir as the mysterious "The Commander."

According to the official description of the role obtained by CBR "Owain Yeoman plays longtime DC Comics villain Vartox, an alien convict, who has been hiding on Earth for the past 12 years. After Supergirl's emergence on Earth, Vartox seeks her out to ascertain her identity and do battle with her."

Created back in 1974, Vartox is an alien who comes from the planet Valeron. The character was at first established as a "slightly older" friend of Superman, who had many of the same powers our Man of Steel possessed, including flight, invulnerability and super strength. A more modern take on the character had him travel to Earth in search of a perfect mate, following the release of a "contraceptive bomb" on Valeron, which rendered the woman of his home planet sterile. While on this highly important mission, Vartox set his sights on Power Girl, the Earth-2 version of this show's Supergirl. Let's just hope Vartox will wear a better costume, though, and not sport so much body hair.
