Drew Goddard In Talks To Pen Marvel"s Daredevil Netflix Series. Things appear to be moving quickly on Marvel"s venture into the television world. just a few months after launching Marvel"s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC to a mixed response, Marvel announced that it was teaming up with Netflix to develop four live-action series centering around four separate characters, followed by a Marvel"s The Defenders mini-series event that will bring the characters together. The first character series out of the gate will be Daredevil, as the character rights just recently reverted back to Marvel after fox failed to mount a feature film reboot in time. Now we have our first clue as to what to expect from the Daredevil series, as Cabin In The Woods and Cloverfield scribe Drew Goddard is being eyed to pen the adventures of blind superhero Matt Murdock. I wonder if pal Joss Whedon"s role as Marvel consultant came in handy when the studio began batting around the idea of a Daredevil series ? all four of the Marvel/Netflix shows will take place in New York, The Daredevil series will debut in 2015 and will be followed by, in order, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage.

"Walking Dead" Spinoff May Be A Prequel. You probably already heard that The Walking Dead is getting a spinoff, but it turns out that that spinoff may be a prequel. Whereas the current series follows Rick (Andrew Lincoln) who was in a coma for the beginning of the epidemic, this spinoff/prequel/companion series will explore the early days of the zombie apocalypse (sorry, walker apocalypse). The plot -- according to TV Line -- will focus on the events leading up to the current series and the struggle to stop the spread of it. Explained the comic and show"s creator Robert Kirkman, "It definitely won"t be set in Georgia, I can at least say that, It"s important to us that this show exists on its own. The spinoff has to be a show worthy of existing, or else we"ve all sold out. So that"s something we"re all working hard towards doing, and i think we can pull it off." I think that the ideal situation is, when you"re watching the spinoff, you"re like, "Wow, this is a really awesome show. "The whole other show doesn"t need to exist for this show to be cool and stand on its own." Regardless of what the series is, It is scheduled to air on AMC sometime in 2015.

"Hell On Wheels" Renewed For Fourth Season. Well, it turns out that being relegated to Saturday nights doesn"t mean instant death for a scripted drama. AMC has renewed Hell On Wheels for a fourth season, after the Western drama had been banished to Saturday nights in its third season. The renewal Isn"t even the only good news for the series, as AMC has increased the 10-episode count of the first three season to 13-episodes for season four. The show will return next summer with John Wirth, who took over the show after season 2, back in the driver"s seat as executive producer/showrunner. The success of the series has proven to be a validation of the network"s decision to pursue a third night of original programming this past summer Hell On Wheels was moved to Saturday nights and given a 15-hour compatible lead-in of Western features and shows. The strategy worked, as Hell On Wheels delivered an impressive 3.3 million viewers in Live+3 for season 3, an improvement on Its season 2, average on Sunday and doubling AMC"s Saturday night audience.

"Preacher" Pilot Ordered At AMC " At long last, Garth Ennis " controversial graphic novel "Preacher" is finally making the transition from page to screen --- small screen, that is. After years of languishing in various stages of big and small screen development, AMC has ordered a pilot for a series adaptation of the story, which follows a preacher imbued with the voice of God as he hunts down the Lord himself, who has abandoned all creation, and forces Him to answer for His carelessness. Badass Digest reports that AMC, in a bid to fill the void left by "Breaking Bad" is turning its sights to another comic book adaptation. "Preacher" based on the graphic novel by Garth Ennis. The book follows Jesse Custer, a boozy, small town preacher who is suddenly blessed/cursed with the Voice of God, leading him on a wild adventure to track down God himself, who has abandoned His creation, Along for the ride are Tulip, a hit woman who is also Jesse"s ex-girlfriend, and Cassidy, a hundred year-old Irish vampire. No word yet on who might be involved to write or direct the pilot, or --- hope of all hopes --- an eventual series, but they"d have to get some pretty stellar people involved for this one.

"The Walking Dead" Season 4 Adds Mysterious New "Comic Remix" Character. We"ve only two episodes to go in the first half of "The Walking Dead" season 4, some of which might see some major comic additions, but what of the back half premiering in 2014? Former "Greek" star Andrew J. West has reportedly joined the cast in an important new recurring role said to be based on that of the comics, but what secrets lie in store for "The Walking Dead" season 4? According to the Hollywood Reporter, West will appear in the latter half of season 4 as Gareth, of whom relatively few details have been revealed, other than that the character will have "a big presence and play an important character." The character did not appear in the Robert Kirkman comics, though should be considered a "remix of sorts of an unidentified character from the series," with the potential to turn series regular come season 5.

AMC Orders Pilots For "Knifeman" And Ridley Scott"s Post-Apocalyptic "Galyntine" Via The Hollywood Reporter, "Knifeman" follows Wendy Moore"s similarly-titled John Hunter biography to chronicle an 18th century London man described as a "charming, arrogant, decorum-breaking genius who challenges societal norms to transform his visions into cutting-edge discoveries, "Rolin Jones (Friday Night Lights") will write the pilot and executive produce alongside Ron Fitzgerald, Josh Donnen and Robert Zotnowski. Meanwhile, "Galyntine" follows a familiar formula as "a cataclysmic technology-induced disaster has resulted in a new society that has eschewed any form of technology." The event leaves small groups of survivors scattered around the planet, forcing them to adapt to isolation and unique challenges. Jason Cahill (Fringe) wrote the pilot and will executive produce with "The Walking Dead" EP Greg Nicotero, David Zucker and Ridley Scott. "These are both highly original and ambitious pilots that take us into worlds that we haven"t seen on TV before, "AMC exec Joel Stillerman adds. "The bawdiness and fun of Knifeman and London in the mid-18th century, and the completely unique take on a post-apocalyptic world in Galyntine are right in AMC"s wheelhouse of making television that is both unexpected and unconventional. They"re both driven by creative and production teams that we know are capable of delivering ground-breaking television." Fascinating pilots to keep a close eye-on in the future.
