Absolutely loved this series first time round, however, doubt anyone will do Chicken George as well as Ben Vereen. He was terrific.
I remember watching the series back in the days. Very inspiring, it changed my vision of American history. I was raised with westerns from the Golden Age of Hollywood and slavery was rarely tackled.

Finn Jones Is Marvel & Netflix's "Iron Fist"

First reported as a rumor earlier this morning over at The Hashtag Show, Marvel and Netflix smartly opted to not bother denying and just went ahead and officially confirmed the news - "Game of Thrones" actor Finn Jones has scored the title role in the "Iron Fist" series.

The project is the fourth and final hero series in the original deal between Marvel and Netflix to adapt four of Marvel's properties into original series on the streaming service. A mini-series event, "The Defenders," starring the title characters from all four series is also on the way but a schedule hasn't yet been made clear.

The story focuses on Daniel Rand and is return to New York City after been missing for four years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the power of the fiery Iron Fist.

This fourth series seemed to be the most troubled in terms of getting into production, rumors swirled that the property would be trucated to a standalone film or be replaced instead with a series focusing on The Punisher who is introduced in the second season of "Daredevil".

Jones got his start on British TV on shows such as "The Bill," "Hollyoaks" and "Doctor Who" spin-off "The Sarah Jane Adventures". He's most famous for playing Loras Tyrell, the gay knight and lover of the now slain Renly Baratheon (Gethin Anthony), in HBO's big-budget fantasy series "Game of Thrones"

Madeleine Stowe Joins Syfy's "12 Monkeys"

Having starred in the original 1996 Terry Gilliam movie, actress Madeleine Stowe is now set to return for Syfy's acclaimed TV series take on "12 Monkeys" for its second season.

The "Revenge" star played the role of the levelheaded Dr. Railly in the film, a role now played by Amanda Schull. For the TV series, she's switching things up - playing a patient in a mental asylum in the late 1950s.

Executive producer Terry Matalas says: "Madeleine has always been really supportive of the show ever since she saw the pilot. We always knew we wanted her to be involved in the show, but if we had the right role and if it was something profound and meaningful to our characters and mythology."

The actress will appear on screen in the season finale, but her voice will be heard in the season opener over a montage. The new season kicks off April 18th.

# 1502 Wonderful series from the 70s which at that time was certainly pulling at my heartstrings. Controversial and very inspiring, looking back i will second that on American history.

Celebrating the 35th anniversary of Roots, BET premiered the miniseries on a three-day-weekend showing in December 2012, which resulted in its being seen by a total of 10.8 million viewers. It's 35th-anniversary showing of Roots for the BET network became its best "non-tentpole" weekend in the network's history.

ABC Renews Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder And More!

The three Thursday Shonda Rhimes dramas currently airing on Thursday evenings as well as a Marvel favorite have been renewed for the 2016-17.

That means How to Get Away with Murder is entering its 3rd season. Agents of SHIELD its 4th. Scandal its 5th and Grey's Anatomy will be going into an amazing 13th season. Whether the three Shondaland dramas will remain a successful trio on Thursday nights will be decided at a later date.

All together, the full roster of renewed series today includes America's Funniest Home Videos, The Bachelor, Black-ish, Dancing With the Stars, Fresh Off the Boat, The Goldbergs, Grey's Anatomy, How to Get Away With Murder, Agents of SHIELD, The Middle, Modern Family, Once Upon a Time, Scandal, Shark Tank and Quantico.

That leaves many shows on the bubble, including Castle and Nashville, as well as Agent Carter, American Crime, Galavant and Last Man Standing.

Castle could be contingent on whether or not the leads, Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion sign contracts for a ninth season, although there are plans to continue even in the event they should choose not to return.

Nashville has suffered from ratings erosion, but secondary income from album sales and concert tour revenue helps make up for it.

Galavant may be a little bit more expensive than the network is willing to spend given the low ratings for the critically adored series and is unlikely to return.

American Crime, despite its mesmerizing storytelling and critical acclaim, has also failed to catch on with viewers, so may be a hard sell. John Ridley also has another pilot in contingency, which may sway away from an American Crime pickup.

Last Man Standing has already sold to syndication after airing its 100th episode, All other freshman series not mentioned above also hang in the balance.

Fringe's Georgina Haig Heads To Mars As Lead On CW Drama Pilot

Not even Georgina Haig's trip to Fringe's future could've prepared her for the journey she's about to take.

The Aussie actress has nabbed a leading role in The CW's Mars-set drama pilot.

The untitled project follows an explorer team that arrives on Mars to join its first human colony, only to discover that their predecessors have vanished. Led by a woman whose husband is among the missing, the colonists are forced to change their mission from exploration and settlement to investigation and survival, all while navigating the hostile planet and their own personal demons.

Haig will co-star as Gina Nolan, the mission's intense, motivated and intelligent botanist. A true explorer at heart, Gina believes it is mankind's destiny to investigate the universe, but she must prove herself before she can become a Mars colonist.

Haig - who has also held roles on Once Upon a Time, Limitless and Reckless - joins a cast that includes Neal Bledsoe (The Mysteries of Laura), Mouzam Makkar (The Vampire Diaries) and Carl Beukes (Dominion).

True Blood's Anna Paquin To Star In ABC's Legal Drama Pilot Broken

True Blood's Anna Paquin will be surrounding herself with a different breed of soulless bloodsuckers in ABC's divorce law-themed drama pilot Broken.

The Oscar-winning actress has joined the project in the starring role of Gemma, a ruthless Dallas divorce attorney whose life begins to unravel when her emotionally damaged, love-addicted sister (played by The Player's Charity Wakefield) resurfaces. Gemma has made a fortune off of the heartbreak of wealthy Texans. But beneath her carefully constructed facade are layers of vulnerability, self-destruction, and deeply buried trauma.

Penned by actress-producer Meaghan Oppenheimer, the potential series counts Reese Witherspoon among its exec producers. The cast also includes L.A. Law's Blair Underwood (as Gemma's boss) and Grey's Anatomy's T.R. Knight (as Gemma's work nemesis).

If ordered to series, Broken would mark Paquin's first full-time TV gig since True Blood ended in 2014. She'll next be seen in A&E's Roots revival.

When I read this article, I thought of Reese Witherspoon even before I read that bit.
I remember seeing Anna Paquin in a film that was made when she was a young girl set in the wilderness.  She was good in that.

It wasn't by any chance a film called 'The Piano' was it, I vaguely remember her as a very young girl in that movie many moon's ago!

I liked her in the Holocaust film 'The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler' In 2009, she played the part of a Polish woman, a woman admired for her courage of the Holocaust.

The Flash, Arrow, Supernatural, The 100, The Vampire Diaries & More Renewed By The CW

The CW has given early renewals to every single one of its current shows including Legends of Tomorrow, The Originals, iZombie and more.

Someone at The CW is in a good mood! Specifically, network President Mark Pedowitz, who's been handing out season renewals like Smarties.

In what we're legally contracted (it appears, reading every other report on the news) to refer to as "an unprecendented move", The CW has renewed its entire current slate, totalling eleven shows that will all be back for at least one more run.

Those eleven shows in full are as follows:

Arrow, renewed for season 5

The Flash, renewed for season 3

Supernatural, renewed for season 12

The 100, renewed for season 4

The Vampire Diaries, renewed for season 8

The Originals, renewed for season 4

iZombie, renewed for season 3

Legends of Tomorrow, renewed for season 2

Reign, renewed for season 4

Prison Break Event Series: Sarah Wayne Callies To Return

Prison Break is coming back as an event series on Fox, with Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell returning as brothers Michael and Lincoln. Sarah Wayne Callies - who played Dr. Sara Tancredi in the original run of the show - has also now been confirmed for a return.

On top of this, an official teasing plot description has been released. If you were wondering how the show could continue given the events of the last season, you'll find some hefty clues here.

"In the drama's new chapter, which picks up after Michael's apparent death, Sara has moved on with her life, raising her and Michael's child with her new husband (previously announced guest star Mark Feuerstein, "Royal Pains"). When clues surface that suggest Michael may be alive, Sara teams with Lincoln to engineer the series' biggest escape ever."

Showrunner Paul T. Scheuring and producers Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein, and Dawn Olmstead are all returning as well. The 10-episode series is expected to begin airing in late 2016, and run into 2017.

Production is slated to begin in April 2016, presumably once Miller and Purcell are finished with their commitments to the DC Comics time-travel series Legends Of Tomorrow.

I hope Sarah Wayne Callies isn't taking a nosedive out of Colony? I really like her in that show, she takes on a great role in Colony.

#1511/12 Yes Robbo.  That was it.

#1514 It seems that the DC and Marvel Comic stories have come of age..... again.  I remember buying a few Superman, Fantastic 4 comics when I was young, so that would be in approximately 1969/70 - a long time ago from a little shop in Guildford and another shop in Redhill.  Of course, nowdays they have lots of good CGI, stuntmen and all kinds of effects.
Interestingly, I never knew until last year that the bank featured in the pilot of TSCC was in NM and had been renamed.  The LA skyline behind The Security Trust of Los Angeles was added afterwards.  In fact, there was not anything there.  Did I mention this before?

Bank of Albuquerque, 111 Jackson Street, NM.

We also know from Summer's German interview, that the TDE motorway scene was shot on a motorway in New Mexico too. (and it was very cold that day).
It can also be seen in Sarah's dream, also in the pilot of TSCC, that the weather was cold because of the mist in the background, as John & Sarah came out of the school before John was Shot by Owain Yeoman, the 1st Cromartie.  I also found out where that scene was shot too, if anyone is interested.
