The Frazers are back!

Starz has announced the premiere date for Season 2 of Outlander. The fantasy series based on Diana Gabaldon's best-selling novels will return Saturday, April 9 at 9/8c.

The network also released teaser art, showing Outlander couple Claire Randall Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) on the steps of Versailles. Season 2 kicks off in France and is based on Dragonfly in Amber, the second book of the Outlander series.

I wonder if they really filmed the scenes at the Chateau de Versailles.

# 1487 Possibly not to sure Chris with the scenes at the Chateau de Versailles.

The primary setting for the season is Paris, which Moore explained is being recreated using other locations. Some interiors are being filmed in the show's Scotland soundstages, Prague will be used for Parisian street scenes and the Palace of Versailles, and some palaces in the south of England which have French rooms and architecture will be used as Parisian settings and part of Versailles.

But then again who knows with the change of setting from Scotland to France surely some scenes quite possibly will be in France in season 2.

Outlander is proof that the long-standing desire for shows about intelligent female characters with complex inner lives is no longer just a fantasy. Starz has come up with a surefire hit TV series after a brilliant season 1, can't wait for season 2 of Outlander a cracking show!

Roots Remake Gets Memorial Day Premiere Date

History's remake of Roots is sneaking under the wire for 2016 Emmy eligibility.

The eight-hour event series - which examines one family's struggle to survive during the era of American slavery - is set to premiere on History, Lifetime and A&E on Memorial Day, May 30, at 9/8c (two days before the Emmy cutoff period). It will then continue for the next three nights, with the finale slated for June 2.

ABC famously adapted Alex Haley's novel, Roots: The Saga of an American Family, into a 1977 miniseries, which garnered nine Emmy wins and 37 total nominations. The new adaptation, produced by A&E Studios, is billed as an "original, contemporary production, incorporating material from Haley's novel, as well as carefully researched new scholarship of the time."

The cast of the Roots remake includes Oscar winners Forest Whitaker (as Fiddler) and Anna Paquin (as Nancy Holt), Emmy winner Laurence Fishburne (playing Alex Haley), Emmy-nominated Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Tom Lea), Tony winner Anika Noni Rose (as Kizzy), Grammy winner Tip "T.I."Harris (as Cyrus), Hand of God's Emayatzy Corinealdi (as Belle), Downton Abbey's Matthew Goode (as Dr. William Waller), House of Lies' Mekhi Phifer (as Jerusalem), and The Following's James Purefoy (as John Waller). It will also feature newcomers Rege'-Jean Page (as Chicken George) and Malachi Kirby (Kunta Kinte)

Absolutely loved this series first time round, however, doubt anyone will do Chicken George as well as Ben Vereen. He was terrific.

Shawn Ashmore Joins ABC's Conviction Pilot, Alongside Hayley Atwell

Shawn Ashmore is officially a man of Conviction.

The Following alum will co-star opposite Agent Carter's Hayley Atwell in ABC's legal drama pilot.

Ashmore's character, Sam, is an assistant district attorney who isn't pleased that Atwell's character has taken the job he wants: the boss of Los Angeles' Conviction Integrity Unit. (Little does he know, she was blackmailed into taking the position.)

Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper will executive-produce the pilot with co-creators Liz Friedman and Liz Friedlander. Friedman wrote the pilot, and Friedlander will direct.

The official press release/ synopsis for the Supergirl pilot included the name of Mackenzie Brooke Smith (who played Savannah Weaver in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as Female Student #1 in the guest cast.
However, Mackenzie is nowhere to be found in the pilot (at least I didn't see her). Maybe her scene was deleted in the final version of the pilot. If that's the case, the scene she's in might be in the bonus features of the DVD's.

Overton, Heyerdahl Lead "Vanessa Helsing"

Former "True Blood" and "Legends" actress Kelly Overton has been cast in the title role in Syfy's upcoming series "Vanessa Helsing". Production on a thirteen episode first season begins next week ahead of a Fall launch.

The series reinterprets Bram Stoker's Dracula-hunting character Abraham van Helsing as a woman and the next in a line of warriors who must lead mankind against a world controlled by vampires.

Resurrected five years in the future, Vanessa learns vampires have taken over the world and that she possesses unique power over them - effectively serving as humanity's last hope to lead an offensive to take back what has been lost.

Also onboard is "Mad Men" actor Paul Johansson as a vampire turned before the Rising and now their patient and calculating leader. He's joined by "Hell on Wheels" regulars Jonathan Scarfe as a career Marine with unwavering devotion and Christopher Heyerdahl as a survivor of the vampire Rising, along with David Cubitt ("Ray Donovan") as another survivor and Tim Guinee (The Good Wife") as a vampire foot soldier.

I'm sure this could be good. But i have a sneaky feeling that it won't be?

The Rectify actress has landed the female lead in NBC's time travel-themed sci-fi drama from The Shield's Shawn Ryan and Supernatural's Eric Kripke.

Unforgettable Cancelled At A&E

Third time's the end of the road for Unforgettable.

A&E has chosen not to renew the drama, which had been cancelled twice before, for Season 5. Additionally, no efforts are currently being made by the show's studio to find it a new home.

The death-defying Poppy Montgomery/Dylan Walsh procedural was cancelled by CBS in May 2012 after its first season. In a surprise move, it was brought back for two more seasons before being axed yet again in Oct. 2014. The series cheated death a second time when A&E picked it up for a fourth season in early 2015.

Unforgettable averaged 6 million total viewers and a 0.9 demo rating during its third and final run on CBS. On A&E, it debuted to 840,000 viewers and a 0.1 rating, and by its finale had fallen below 500K viewers. The network quietly burned off its final Season 4 episodes on Jan. 22.

Vinyl Renewed For Season 2 At HBO

Who says rock is dead?

HBO has renewed its vintage music drama Vinyl for a second season, the cabler announced Thursday.

The season order is surprising, given that Sunday's two-hour premiere drew a paltry 764,000 viewers.

Walking Dead alum David Morrissey Joins The Missing Season 2

The Walking Dead's former governor is going missing.

David Morrissey will star in the second season of the British anthology series The Missing, Starz announced Thursday.

The new installments will follow Morrissey's Sam and Gemma (played by British actress Keeley Hawes), whose daughter, Alice, went missing in 2003 but seems to have reappeared 11 years later. The story, told in dual timelines like The Missing's first season was, follows Alice's family and French detective Julien Baptiste (Season 1's Tcheky Karyo) through the tumultuous disappearance and its aftermath.

The cast also includes Laura Fraser (Breaking Bad). Ben Chanan (The Last Kingdom) will direct the eight-episode season, which will be written by Season 1 scribes Harry and Jack Williams.

In addition to TWD, Morrissey's recent TV work includes a role in Extant's second season.

On a side-note, absolutely loved Keeley Hawes as the time-travelling sidekick, sexy smart DI Alex Drake in the tongue-in-cheek period-setting "Ashes To Ashes" wicked!

Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn Joins ABC Comedy Pilot Chunk & Bean

Breaking Bad vet Anna Gunn is taking a walk on the lighter side, joining ABC's single-camera comedy pilot Chunk & Bean.

The project, written by How I Met Your Mother scribe Dave Hemingson, centers on the unlikely friendship of two misfits, Chunk and Bean, who benefit from having two very different sets of parents living next door to each other.

Emmy-winner Gunn will play Connie Dawson, Chunk's stern but (mostly) fair mother, a psychologist who works out of her home office. Connie loves Chunk and that love takes the form of constant monitoring of his food intake and prodding him to slim down. She wants him to be happy but she's unaware that her efforts are having the opposite effect. Connie's life motto is: "Rules are my way of hugging you closer." Those same rules are her way of controlling her world. She's so obsessed with her kids, her greatest fear is that she won't prepare them sufficiently for the hardships of life.

The cast also includes Adam Rodriguez.

The irresistible and charming Skyler White from Breaking Bad, my word she was good.

Clive Standen Joins NBC's Taken Series

Clive Standen has been Taken by NBC

The Vikings actor has nabbed the lead role in NBC's straight-to-series version of the Liam Neeson-fronted film franchise.

Standen will play Neeson's Bryan Mills character in what NBC is dubbing a "modern-day prequel to the blockbuster feature film franchise that depicts how Bryan Mills developed and sharpened his particular set of skills. "The network has not confirmed an episode count.

Homeland's Alex Cary has assumed the showrunner reins on Taken and will serve as an EP alongside Luc Besson, Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros. Alex Graves (Game of Thrones, Homeland) will direct the premiere.

Taken was a surprise smash when it arrived in theaters in 2008, spawning two moderately successful sequels.

It's not clear how Taken will impact Standen's series-regular role on History's Vikings, which kicked off its expanded fourth season on Feb.18.
