|Lost In Space Remake Ordered At Netflix |
What's old is, once again, new at Netflix: the streaming service has given a series order to a reimagining of the classic '60s show Lost in Space.
The 10-episode series, premiering in 2018, is described as a survival story about the Robinson family, who is forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their intended destination, they find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and their own personal demons.
The family drama/sci-fi adventure hails from writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter), with Zack Estrin (Prison Break) set as showrunner.
"The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience," Netflix's Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland said in a statement. "The current creative team's reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world."
The original series, which ran from 1965 to 1968, centered on the Robinson family as they attempted to colonize another planet in deep space - a mission that was sabotaged by a foreign secret agent and caused their ship to get knocked off course.
It will be fascinating how they reboot this one, family drama or sci-fi adventure is the target for the audiences. Lost in Space cult classic television series was originally given the name 'Space Family Robinson' so could it be just another understudy to Star Trek in the works or maybe something fresh and different?
