Here's a bit of context about the scene they were shooting: In the aftermath of the jeep explosion, Cameron survives but as a result of a brain malfunction, she now believes her mission is to kill John, forcing Sarah and John to flee from her rampage. Cameron eventually flips over their stolen car in the L. A. Storm Drain System with one swipe of her arm and tells an injured Sarah to "call to him".

Let's take a closer look at John and Cameron's style in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
The teenagers lead a double life, one as normal teenagers going to high school and posing as brother and sister, and the other as the future leader of the Human Resistance and his Terminator protector fighting Skynet. Their clothes and gear illustrates this by being both trendy and feminine (in Cameron's case) and also functional.
During the day, both John and Cameron focus on blending in, therefore they dress like the average teenager boy/girl would. Layering is a big part of their wardrobe. They usually wear a long sleeve shirt, with a short sleeved top over it. You'll notice they wear matching outfits, but while John wears dark tones (olive green and black) and loose clothing, Cameron wears pink or purple tones and fitted skinny jeans, skirts and dresses that are comfortable, but fashionable. She even has been seen in calf boots that have hints of pink and purple in them or wearing a rainbow belt.
When John and Cameron go on a mission to prevent Judgment Day from happening and have to go from teenager to Skynet fighters, John's outfit is pretty much the same (except he accesorize them with shotguns and nine millimeters), while Cameron outfit makes a drastic change. She goes for a more military style ensemble, wearing cargo pants, tank tops, and fitted jackets. Not to mention she exchanges her arm-warmers (inspired from the universe of ballet) for leather gloves.

These awesome photos give us a behind the scenes look at one of the best scene between Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker and Summer Glau. In the photos, Summer is rehearsing with stunt coordinator Joel Kramer for the scene in which Cameron picks up a wrench and throws it at John. Then Sarah suddenly appears in a truck and pins Cameron between hers and John's truck, thus leading to one of the most emotional scene in the entire series and a great acting performance by Summer Glau.
