Summer Glau's singular talent and universal appeal have garnered her millions of fans around the world (some of them have find a home here) but she is also a source of inspiration for artists and musicians. Don't expect to find Summer Glau references in Kate Perry or Justin Bieber's latest album though; the artists listed below are independants artists whose music is in most cases freely available for all on the Net.
Here's a non exhaustive list of musical works directly or indirectly inspired by Summer Glau:

Summer Glau song by John Anealio

'Summer Glau' by John Anealio

With little more than an alternate-tuned acoustic guitar and a dog-eared copy of The Hobbit, Sci-Fi Songwriter John Anealio composes and performs geeky anthems for writers, librarians, lovers of Science Fiction, Best Buy customers, and robots. His music sounds like John Mayer, Weezer, and James Taylor playing Dungeons and Dragons together on their iPhones.

This performance of "Summer Glau" was recorded at a House Concert in Maryland in December 2010.

Listen to an excerpt of Anealio's song on Amazon.

Firestep a collection of Firefly/Serenity themed Dubstep songs by Elliot Frost

'Firestep' is a 3-track album with Firefly/Serenity themed Dubstep songs by Elliot Frost

1. A Leaf on the Wind 03:05, featuring the wonderful voice of Alan Tudyk, performing in the show "Firefly".

2. Plastic Rocket 03:10, featuring the voice of the talented Nathan Fillion, performing in the show "Firefly".

3. Albatross 03:17, featuring the incredibly talented Summer Glau, performing in the show "Firefly" and audio content from the movie "Serenity".

The unfiltered, raw sound of this song is intended to mimic the way River is unable to filter her emotions because of her stripped amygdalae.

The First Summer by SummerGlau

As strange as it may seem, a Dutch rock band is called SummerGlau. The music and lyrics are not connected to Summer Glau's work though (unless i missed something).

'The First Summer' is a 13-track album, that you can freely listen at Bancamp.

Summer from What is Nerdwave? by World Racketeering Squad

'Summer' from the album 'What is Nerdwave?' by World Racketeering Squad

World Racketeering Squad plays nerdwave rock and roll--imagine Devo jamming with the Stones on the Millennium Falcon with Doctor Who playing bass.

Music Videos Keith Urban - Long Hot Summer

This overview of Summer Glau inspired songs would not be complete without Keith Urban's music video for his song 'Long Hot Summer', featuring Summer Glau on the beach of Malibu, Los Angeles.

I have not included on the list songs/lyrics made by fans but feel free to mention some that you may know on the comment section.

My favorite track on Elliot Frost's album 'Firestep' is not the one with a River theme but the one dedicated to Alan Tudyk, 'A Leaf on the Wind'.

John Anealio gave us the permission to use his song "Summer Glau" for the tribute video for the Summer Glau wiki 2013 calendar.
