Since The Hunger Games, the movie based on the books by American television writer and novelist Suzanne Collins, has been a huge success, fans of the trilogy keep saying that Summer Glau should play the role of Annie Cresta, in the sequel movies Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
Website CSICON, "Home of Geek Culture", share that view in an article called : Casting Catching Fire – Part Two.
"While it’s possible we won’t see Annie Cresta at all until Mockingjay, I really hope she at least makes an appearance in Catching Fire. She’s so important to Finnick’s development, and I feel like so many moments will lose their significance if she doesn’t appear onscreen until the final film. Just a shot of her and Mags during the reaping would be more than enough, providing she gets some meaty moments in the next movie.
I know I’m going overboard with the Whedon girls in this post, but for me, the hands down choice for Annie is Summer Glau. I don’t think there’s any actress in that general age group who can do emotionally damaged and mentally unstable quite as well, and while she’s obviously a very attractive girl, she’s not exactly who you’d expect Finnick to go for. His love for her is both humanizing and interesting, even before we get to know Annie on a more intimate level. Glau is exactly the kind of girl I could see creeping up on him.
But what really makes me want to see Glau in the part is the way her face changes when she smiles. In Mockingjay, she’s described as drifting off into a different world, with Finnick being able to call her back. I can’t think of anyone who could convey that as simply and beautifully as she could. It’s not the type of action-heavy part Glau has become known for, but I think her dedicated fanbase would still enjoy seeing her in this sort of role.
