River Tam Sketch by Heroes artist Tim Sale

POSTED BY chrisdvanne ON Sep 19, 2012 / 2 COMMENTS

Being a fan of both Summer Glau (see photos at the bottom of this post) and comics , John send us an exclusive River Tam sketch made by comic book artist Tim Sale.

For the non-specialists, Tim Sale is primarily known for his work on Spider-Man, Batman, Daredevil, and the Hulk much of which he made in collaboration with Joseph Loeb.

Joseph Loeb is a movie and television writer, producer and comic book writer. Loeb was a producer/writer on the TV series Smallville and Lost, writer for the films Commando and Teen Wolf and was a writer and Co-Executive Producer on the NBC TV show Heroes.

Tim Sale is also the guy behind the art in NBC hit drama Heroes, as the creator of the paintings for the character Isaac Mendez (watch a few samples at the bottom of this post). This long introduction is only there to help you understand the value (not monetary though) of that sketch, given the caliber of the artist who draw it.

Here are samples of the paintings made by Tim Sale for the character Isaac Mendez in NBC's sci-fi show Heroes, which should bring back good memories to all the fans of the serie.“Claire on the Stairs” and “Hiro and T-Rex.”

Back to our friend John , who provided the River Tam sketch : John had the balls to ask Summer Glau to play X-23, the female clone of Wolverine, for a photo op with him at Emerald City Comic Con; see blogpost : A badass Summer Glau plays X-23 and shows her claws!

Emerald City Comicon March 31 - April 1, 2012

He also gave Summer copies of the following drawings (that you may know off) : 'Summer Glau as X-23' and 'River Vs Cameron'

I know a lot of members (and visitors?) of the Summer Glau Wiki are fans of comic books; i hope that they, as well as the non-specialists, enjoyed this blogpost.

thanks for this post. i have seen the photo and drawing of Summer as X-23 but not of her as Cameron. John is a very talented guy. i wonder if he has a job as a comic book artist?

John, pictured with Summer Glau at ECCC, didn't draw the pics i've reproduced here himself (look at the signatures in the drawings themselves); he collected them and send them to me in order to share with the fans.
But he is passionate, especially when it comes to X-23; he has an impressive collection of X-23 action figures and drawing.

Side note : the River Tam sketch is not a commissioned work, it's a fan request, drawed on a table at a convention.
