Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. Pilot - Summer as an agent?

Joss Whedon and Samuel L. Jackson in The Avengers

Joss Whedon announced earlier this year he would produce and co-write the television series S.H.I.E.L.D. for ABC, set in the Marvel's cinematic universe but with different actors than in The Avengers movie (Don't expect to see Samuel L. Jackson or Cobie Smulders as an agent).

Whedon said he's very far in the process of making the show, with a full framework and a full cast.

And now TV Line has gotten their hands on a list of (new) team members that are alleged to be at the forefront of the ABC series, now casting. Their cast list reads as follows:

SKYE: This late-20s woman sounds like a dream: fun, smart, caring and confident – with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm.

AGENT GRANT WARD: Quite the physical specimen and “cool under fire,” he sometimes botches interpersonal relations. He’s a quiet one with a bit of a temper, but he’s the kind of guy that grows on you.

AGENT ALTHEA RICE: Also known as “The Calvary,” this hard-core soldier has crazy skills when it comes to weapons and being a pilot. But her experiences have left her very quiet and a little damaged.

AGENT LEO FITZ and AGENT JEMMA SIMMONS: These two came through training together and still choose to spend most of their time in each other’s company. Their sibling-like relationship is reinforced by their shared nerd tendencies – she deals with biology and chemistry, he’s a whiz at the technical side of weaponry.

We can hope that Summer Glau will join the team. Joss Whedon has a track record of hiring his regulars in most of his projects, like in Much Ado About Nothing for example; of course the difference is that Whedon produced it himself while he may not have the last word on ABC's project regarding the cast.

That said, i can't imagine for one second that Joss Whedon went with Summer at the recent Celebration of Dance gala only to speak about the good old time.

Since the list of the characters fans will be introduced to in the pilot was published, the rumour mill is grinding at full speed and fans say outloud which actors they would like to see star in S.H.I.E.L.D..

Funny thing is that Summer Glau fans have not picked up unanimously one character outlined in the list above and each female have received votes.

with the history and chemistry between joss and summer, over the years that have gone by,surely he must have summer in his mind, for some sort of part with his project,S.H.I.E.L.D, she should get some sort of maybe a lead role with the female cast, it would be fantastic seeing summer in every episode, rather than one or two, really exciting, summer deserves it,

As a huge fan of Summer Glau Glau, i would very much like to see her play Skye.

But then i remember that Whedon said a few weeks ago that Amy Acker was the best actress he has worked with, so…

I will watch the show either way :-)
