David Martin-Porras is a Spanish writer/director based in Los Angeles. ABC/Disney Director 2012-2014
Born in Salamanca, Spain, David Martín-Porras felt a strong passion for storytelling from an early age. During his first two years of college, he studied Mass Media Communication at the University of Salamanca and worked for the local newspaper. In 2002, he won an Erasmus scholarship to study in Munich at the Ludwig-Maximiliam Universität. After his return to Spain, he moved to Barcelona where he finished his Bachelor's degree at the Pompeu Fabra University. This city would open his eyes to the art of filmmaking. From 2003 to 2006 he shot three short films with renowned Spanish actors and also worked for Pedro Almodovar's Production Company, El Deseo.
In 2006 Martín-Porras won a scholarship from La Caixa Foundation to study in the USA and he began the Directing Program at UCLA Film School where he filmed several short movies.
In 2010 David graduated from the Directing Program at UCLA Film School where he wrote and directed several award winning short films: The Breakfast - starred by the Primetime Emmy award winning actress, Cherry Jones; Ida y Vuelta (Round Trip) - selected as a National Finalist for the Student Academy Awards '09; and La Viuda (The Widow) - DGA Student Latino Award winner in '10.

From Wikipedia :
Stephen Wilson Bethel (born February 24, 1984) is an American actor, best known for his role as Ryder Callahan on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless and the role of Wade Kinsella on the CW Network comedy-drama, Hart of Dixie.
Before becoming a regular on The Young and the Restless, Bethel had been seen on television in various one-time roles on shows such as JAG, Cold Case, and NCIS. Those small parts were followed up by a role in the 2008 Vietnam War film, 1968 Tunnel Rats where he played the Army Special Ops soldier, Corporal Green. This was followed by his role as Corporal Evan "Q-Tip" Stafford in the 2008 HBO mini-series Generation Kill; Bethel appeared in all 7 episodes as well as the HBO documentary short Making Generation Kill.
In Hart of Dixie, Bethel plays Wade Kinsella, "bad-boy" neighbor to the series' central character, Zoe Hart.
In 'Inside the Box', Bethel plays a Texan cop who is forced to face a secret that he’s been hiding from his wife in an effort to keep his family together. Wilson Bethel and Summer Glau will have a similar moment [as in TSCC season finale Born to Run "bed scene"] in 'Inside the Box' in which an intimate moment between them gets interrupted. You can hear Bethel talk about his role at 1:13 of the fundraising campaign video (scroll down the page).

I can see from this writeup and his video in particular, that David Martin-Porras will ask a lot of Summer and we might be drawn in to her situation in this film. I personally would be happy enough to see this grown-up woman (actually grown-up quite a while ago and very clever with it), to say "goodbye" to some of the roles that she has played in the past, and concentrate on keeping her employability options open. I know I said that she has her niche in sci-fi, but Summer might be able to surprise us and show what she is made of. We'll see.
I took the trouble myself, Chris, to find out a little bit about Stephen Wilson Bethel, but you were more thorough than I. I assume he will get paid for featuring with Summer and getting a little bit intimate. I hope the short film will not appear too much like a soap.
Dentro de la caja (last word pron. caha, with emphasis).
I'm going to download a contribution pdf and concentrate. WHAT THE HELL! WHY NOT? In that way, I will be guaranteed to see the DVD, just in case it never hits any screens.
David Martin-Porras has a solid background and seem to have a promising future in filmmaking; i'm sure this short will showcase Summer's talent in a way we are not used too.
This is what the production team emailed me : ""We have to say that Summer is very lovely, and she is more than a great actress, she is very excited with the project and the role. I'm sure you will find a very different Summer from the Sci-Fi TV Shows :)".
Also don't forget that this short is just a teaser for a full-length feature film; one can hope that the same actors as in the short will be cast.
