Beginning her professional acting career on the spin-off to Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer called Angel, which led to a starring role on his Firefly series. This imaginative sci-fi series centered around the mysterious River Tam portrayed by Glau, and though it lasted only one season, it developed a quick cult following which resulted in a theatrical film entitled Serenity. After recurring roles on other genre series including The 4400 and The Unit, she ended up landing another starring role on Fox's The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
