Early in her career in Hollywood, Summer Glau was one of the dancers, along with famous latin dancer and actor Jordi Caballero, of the musical play "Selena Forever", which was performed at the 2001 3rd Ritmo Latino Awards on October 18, 2001 in Los Angeles.
"Selena Forever" was done to honour Selena Quintanilla Perez, the Queen of TexMex, a Mexican American singer-songwriter who was tragically murdered at the young age of 23.

Seventy nominees of the biggest and brightest stars of the Latin music world were announced today for the upcoming third annual El Premio de la Gente, Ritmo Latino Music Awards 2001. The Latino Music Awards 2001 is the first awards show in Latin music history where the public selects winners in a nationwide popular voting process. Latin music fans will vote nationally for their favorite artists at 325 Vons and 41 Ritmo Latino Music Stores.
The prestigious music awards will take place at the Shrine Auditorium on Thursday, October 18, 2001, at 8:00 p.m. in Los Angeles. A group of distinguished artists, including Mexican superstar Juan Gabriel, Celia Cruz and A.B Quintanilla y los Kumbia Kings, will be performing on a night dedicated to the life and music of the Queen of Tejano music, Selena.
El Tributo de la Gente, or Tribute of the People, will be an emotional celebration of Selena's life, legacy and her significant impact on millions of adoring fans.
