Slay-A-Thon consists in 12-hours spent with fellow Whedonverse fans watching episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, silent and live auctions of goodies, games and raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois. They're not in this fight alone, the heroes of the Whedonverse - and beyond - have their back, including Summer Glau, Julie Benz, Stephen Amell, James Marsters and many more.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
For the record, Summer Glau attented the 6th Annual 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' Posting Board Party to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation back in February 2003.

Well, the Slay-A-Thon is raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois; Buffy fans and Summer have been supporting this foundation for quite some time now.
Though I must say that like you I haven't heard about the Slay-A-Thon before.
Anyway, the involvement of Whedon fans in charities never cease to amaze me.
