Producers Guild of America Film challenge short - On Set Picture

Added by chrisdvanne ON October 01, 2012 | 8 COMMENTS

Summer Glau played in a (short) movie, produced by German Michael Torres, Rick Telles, and John Estrada and directed by Jay Torres, made for the 2nd Annual Producers Guild Weekend Shorts Contest , that took place September 28-30, 2012; the challenge was to make a film – write, shoot and edit it – in two days.

Summer Glau stars in it alongside two other actors; the movie, which will only be 3-5 minutes in length, should be viewable in November, shortly after the winners will be posted online at PGA Weekend Shorts Contest, starting November 8, 2012 (Thanks to Tall See Productions, on-set EPK photographer, for the additional informations).

UPDATE: The short is now available online. Watch Summer Glau and Eric Winter in "Dead End"!

3N Films, who served as assistant director, released a picture of Summer Glau on set (in post-production) :

The participants to the Producers Guild Weekend Shorts Contest had to fulfill specific assignments such as setting, story elements and thematic elements :

For the 2012 WEEKEND SHORTS CONTEST, the contest draws on key aspects of Debra Hill’s modern classic, THE FISHER KING. If you haven’t watched THE FISHER KING recently, you may wish to take a moment to refresh your memory of this wonderful film.

You can discuss everything related to Summer's movie for the PGA shorts contest in the discussion forum.

Oh wow this is great. I sure do love myself a good indie short. I love good film in general, it's just the genuinely and integrity of videos made by a small startup team always hits a soft spot with me.

Nope, 3 to 5 minutes at most.
What can you expect when you have TWO DAYS to "write, shoot and edit" a movie?

I've added a few trivia in the dedicated thread in the forum.

The goal of this contest is to give undiscovered producers a chance to show the Producers Guild what they're made of; it's not so much about the actors.

This contest is terrific for a small production company trying to become known.

How long will this short movie be? Like 40 minutes to an hour at most?

  Message #7 | TallSeaProds | 2012 October 01, 17:15 GMT

Just to clarify so there is no misinformation, this film will only be 3-5 minutes in length. It was not produced by 3N Films, it was produced by German Michael Torres, Rick Telles, and John Estrada. Summer Glau stars in it alongside 2 other actors. It was indeed shot for the PGA's Weekend Shorts contest and will be viewable in November (I think!). I was the on-set EPK photographer for this shoot. Stay tuned...

Thanks for the specifications and additional informations; i have updated the News accordingly and given correct credit.

Of course the fans are very interested in any informations that you can provide and we shall be happy to report it.

Can't wait to share more infos on Summer's role and maybe a photo from the EPK (electronic press kit).
