The Science Channel has acquired the rights to Firefly

POSTED BY chrisdvanne ON Feb 18, 2012 / 3 COMMENTS

Summer Glau in Firefly

For the first time since 2008 (when it ran on USA Network), "Firefly" will return to cable as the Science Channel has acquired the rights to Joss Whedon's much beloved space western and plans on showing the entire series, in correct sequence.

Additionally, each episode will end with Dr. Michio Kaku, a renowned physicist, exploring the theoretical science behind the show's sci-fi concepts. It's a Science Channel, of course there has to be some learning involved.

Of course Nathan Fillion had to give his word on that news and he said that, given the opportunity, he'd play Captain Mal again.

Firefly premieres in HD on The Science Channel on March 6 at 8 pm, with the two hour pilot, followed by the first episode at 10 pm. Following that, Firefly episodes will air every Sunday.
